Entrepreneurship and SMEs on top of Qatar’s strategic priorities

Qatar’s Minister of Economy and Commerce HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani has stressed entrepreneurship and SMEs are on top of the country’s strategic priorities.


In a speech at the Reyada Awards, organized by the Nama Center, Sheikh Ahmed said Qatar looked to implement a host of programs and policies that promote a constructive partnership with the private sector. Qatar is keen on increasing the contribution of young entrepreneurs in economic development by encouraging them to take the initiative and providing a suitable environment for innovation.

Helping investors

The minister highlighted the launch of the single-window system for investors and the economic zones of Manateq logistics which aim to lower operating costs for investors and took note of the country’s efforts to diversify the economy and enhance competitiveness. The efforts led to structural changes in the economy and a higher contribution by the private sector, led by SMEs, which are a main partner in development, he said.

On the Reyada Awards, he said it was an important national initiative that promotes entrepreneurship among young people and encourages them to innovate.
