There are many technologies for harvesting solar energy, such as solar heating, solar photovoltaics, solar thermal electricity and solar architecture. But many agree that artificial photosynthesis is the one that could rid the world of all its energy woes as it produces actual liquid fuel.

The Holy Grail of clean energy
Artificial photosynthesis is a chemical process that converts sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into carbohydrates and oxygen, thus making the so called solar fuel. The main research area in artificial photosynthesis is splitting water with sunlight, converting it into hydrogen and oxygen. Some call it the Holy Grail of clean energy economy as the entire process is sustainable and emits no greenhouse gases.
